A friend of mine approached me about designing and producing professional business cards that he could exchange at professional events. Dylan is an Economics, Political Science, and Philosophy major who recently graduated from Western. He's very direct, straight-forward and uncomplicated.
Dylan's goal was to increase the chance of someone calling him to mind visually when looking at the card, so that he might hear back from them. His own experience has been that when he returns home after one of the events he frequently attends, he adds any cards he's collected to his already existing stack of people to follow up with, but then has a hard time matching cards to faces, conversations, and places later.
My solution is a simple, singled-sided, black and white card, printed on heavy, clean white stock. This not only keeps his cost low (he is a recent graduate), but also leaves the back open for him to write details of where/how he met the person he's giving the card to, in an effort to help them remember how they met.
